Dear Families:
As you know, the Governor of South Carolina today called the closing of all public schools. We feel that it is important for us to make a decision and implement it swiftly. At this time, we have decided to remain open as long as we are able to safely provide care to our families. Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation and will assess our operational needs and schedule should the nature and condition of the pandemic change.

Given the impact of COVID-19 on how we work, socialize and daily activities, we will be temporarily adapting a few of our policies in order to safe guard the health and safety of all of our staff, children and families here at Green Apple Childcare.

1-) Parents will meet a staff member in lobby to drop off children. In on our best attempt to practice social distancing, we ask that parents DO NOT enter classrooms or hallway space when dropping off or picking up children. We know this may be an inconvenience for morning and afternoon routines, but to best safeguard your children, our staff and all families we ask that you allow a few extra minutes in order to abide by the new drop off routine.
2-) Children will be monitored more closely for any illness present. As always, we will abide by the DHEC exclusion policy for illness and sickness. We ask that if you child is experiencing any symptoms of illness to please keep them home until they are well enough to participate in group care. We will notify parents as soon as possible of children who become ill while in care.  These children will need to be picked up within 30 minutes and may return when they are well and with a note from their physician giving them the all clear to return to school. We are asking that if anyone is sick in your home that you think proactively and keep your child home until the illness has passed.  Should a family become quarantined because of a positive or presumptive positive please notify us so we can take the proper cleaning measures.  Your child will need to remain out of care for 2 weeks or the length of time outlined in the recommendation of the CDC, should that number change in coming days.
3-) All outside visitors, guests, tours or schedule events will be postponed until further notice. Music class will be postponed until further as well. This also will include all deliveries we should receive. All packages will be dropped off in lobby area.
4-) We also ask during this time that you use your best judgement on the situation. Handwashing, sanitizing and following our policies and procedures will help us safeguard everyone to the best of our ability. We recognize that the COVID-19 virus has all of us more mindful as we go through our regular activities. Please rest assure that we will continue to clean, sanitize and disinfect per our normal regulations and will meet the latest guidance provided from the CDC, DSS and DHEC on proper safety measures.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and appreciate all the efforts of our local healthcare workers, communities and governments as measures are implemented to keep us all healthy and safe.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out via email or phone. We truly appreciate everyone's flexibility and understanding in this situation.
 Kind regards,
Green Apple Childcare
